08/15/23 10:13 amThe Berlin Area School District is searching for a passionate and talented full-time Middle School Cross-Categorical Special Education Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. Under the direction of the building administration and the Director of Special Education, the special education teacher provides prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students with disabilities. These services are designed to increase student access, engagement, and progress in the general education classroom. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching students within an inclusive environment.
The ideal candidate for this position must be able to demonstrate knowledge and effectiveness in the following areas: - adhering to legal confidentiality requirements; - understanding of the evaluation and IEP process including monitoring of timelines; - utilizing a strengths-based mindset that fosters the development of an Individualized Education Program (IEP); - developing high-quality materials, evidence-based, and data-driven instructional strategies for academic and social skills; - establishing positive relationships with students and responding to maladaptive behavior using approved methods; - coordinating the implementation of accommodations in student IEPs; - implementing behavior management systems including conducting functional behavioral assessment and the development of behavior intervention plans; - engaging in collaboration with school and community team members to proactively meet the academic and functional needs of students.
Salary, benefits, and length of contract: This position works a 190-day contract with a salary not less than $45,500 and an excellent benefits package.
